Every job I have done has been sales oriented. From door-to-door, to rental car sales, to selling credit cards outside Canadian Tire Gas Bars. Sales, like psychology, are apparent in every line of work. Everything in life is a sale, even if its just convincing a friend to come out, or talking your way out of a jam. Sales, like psychology, are apparent everywhere.

This is one reason I studied psychology, because i realized that no matter what you do, you need to be a good salesmen. Psychology is all about how people think and why they make the choices they do, and if you know why someone would make a choice, its easy to elicit the information required to get the result you want. A quote we always used at Vivint that I loved was: "you have two ears, and one mouth", meaning you listen at least twice as much as you speak. That is the foundation to a good sales career.

In my time as a rental sales associate I was first in car group upgrading sales at my store. Despite the fact that the other associate had been doing this job for two years, and my manager had been for over ten years, I managed to upgrade customers more frequently and more effectively to more expensive car groups. Even presently I am still the leader in SARC (sales above rate confirmed) scores at our store for upgrading individuals to a more expensive car group.
